Jane Crowell resides in Alexandria, Louisiana, with her husband and family.  She earned a B.S. degree from LSU, but never considered a study of art until she was living in Dallas, Texas, and needed art for her empty walls.  There she discovered that she enjoyed painting and began studying oil painting with accomplished Dallas painter, Ann Cushing Gantz.  Upon returning to Alexandria, Crowell studied serigraphy at Louisiana College nearby.  Also, she has taken pastel workshops with Albert Handell in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She has participated in many local group exhibitions and has had several shows at River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria, where she is a resident artist.

Crowell's serigraphs (silkscreens) have been in galleries throughout the Southwest, and her work has been featured in many shows.

The pastel paintings of Crowell have won numerous awards and have found their way into many private and public collections.

Crowell is a member of the Degas Pastel Society of New Orleans and has participated in their annual juried shows.
